FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The things farmers ask us most often, answered plainly.

What is Kraal?

Kraal is farm management software for African livestock farmers. It lets you track every animal's weight, health, feed and finances in one place — on a phone, tablet or laptop, online or offline.

Which animals does it support?

Sheep, goats, cattle, pigs and poultry. You can mix species on a single farm and Shamba Records will adapt to how each is managed in the field.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Shamba Records is offline-first. You can log weigh-ins, treatments and feed purchases without signal. Records sync the moment you're back online.

How much does Kraal cost?

The Starter plan is free forever for up to 50 animals on a single species. The Grower plan is KES 900 per month for up to 500 animals across all species, with reports, exports and SMS reminders. Enterprise is custom-priced for cooperatives and multi-farm operations.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From the Grower plan upwards you can export every record to CSV or PDF anytime. Your data is yours — there's no lock-in.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit, access is role-based, and we never share farm data with third parties. You can delete your account and data at any time.

Do you support farms outside Kenya?

Yes. Shamba Records is used across East Africa — Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia — with support for KES, UGX, TZS, RWF and ETB.

Can multiple people use one farm account?

Yes. Grower includes up to 5 users with owner, manager and worker roles. Enterprise has unlimited users plus an audit log of every change.

Do you offer training?

Enterprise plans include in-person onboarding and training for your team. We also have free video tutorials for every feature on our YouTube channel.
